It does tighten up somewhat with two or 3 rounds in it but I used to be concerned about how free it feels. The gun I bought was the only 1 available so I could not Evaluate it to every other Kimbers.To me the aesthetics are worthwhile. With my hammers and screwdrivers, I do not care. I sand the face of my hammer heads whenever they need to have it,
